Metal News - Kerry King Honors Iron Maiden’s Paul Di’Anno with Powerful Performance in Australia

Dec 5, 2024 by HMB Staff
Slayer guitarist Kerry King and his solo band paid heartfelt tribute to former Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno during their recent shows in Australia. The band delivered a rousing rendition of Iron Maiden’s classic track "Killers" on December 3 at Sydney’s Roundhouse and December 4 at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre. This moving homage comes following Di’Anno’s passing on October 21 at the age of 66 due to heart complications.

Paul Di’Anno was a trailblazer in heavy metal, serving as Iron Maiden’s first vocalist. His powerful voice defined the band’s groundbreaking albums Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981), which laid the foundation for Maiden’s legendary status. Despite battling severe health issues in his later years, Di’Anno continued to captivate fans, performing numerous shows that showcased his enduring passion for music.

Kerry King is now gearing up for a major North American tour in 2025, set to kick off on January 15 in San Francisco and conclude on February 22 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. With Municipal Waste and Alien Weaponry joining as support acts, the tour promises an electrifying setlist blending Slayer classics, new material, and possibly some surprises, celebrating King’s enduring influence in the metal scene.
