This past Summer, French death metal veterans Gojira made history by becoming the first metal band to perform at the opening ceremony of the Olympic games. The quartet performed a rendition of "Mea Culpa (Ah! C¸a ira!)," which delighted fans, thrilled attendees, and offended bible bashers in America who didn't understand that the theatrics had nothing to do with Jesus. Now, Gojira has even more reason to celebrate the show, as at the fourth time of asking, the group won their first Grammy award for Best Metal Performance. Owing to its widely shared Olympic performance, the song was arguably the favourite to win this year, but nonetheless beat stiff competition from Judas Priest ("Crown Of Thorns,") Metallica ("Screaming Suicide,") Knocked Loose ("Suffocate" featuring Poppy) and Spiritbox ("Cellar Door.")
