HMB´S REVIEW
Explorer is Pirate Hymn's sophomore release, showcasing their prowess in the realm of independent pirate metal. Unveiled on January 20, 2024, the album boasts eight tracks that blend folk, power, and heavy metal, immersing listeners in the spirit of high-seas escapades.

The voyage begins with "Captain's Diary," a brief instrumental prelude setting the stage for the forthcoming adventure. The titular track, "Explorer," emerges as a spirited anthem beckoning all to join the crew on a quest for treasure and renown. Infused with lively folk instruments like accordion and violin, and enriched by Tasos Lazaris's commanding vocals in a blend of English and Greek, the song embodies the band's prowess.

Following suit is "Dance of Death," a darker narrative depicting a perilous clash with rival pirates, enriched by a scorching solo courtesy of guest guitarist Czajnik. Its infectious chorus echoes a defiant refrain: "Dance of death, dance of death, we'll make them dance until they're out of breath."

"Hoist the Sails" brings a buoyant celebration of pirate life and the boundless freedom of the sea, embellished with an irresistible melody and folk-inspired interludes. "Volta Do Mar" serves as a lyrical transition, nodding to the navigational techniques of 15th-century Portuguese explorers.

The jovial "Drunken Whale" regales listeners with a lighthearted tale of tavern revelry, complete with an infectious chorus and spirited atmosphere. Clocking in at over eight minutes, "Storm Wind Riders" emerges as an epic odyssey, charting a tempestuous voyage threatened by a raging storm, showcasing intricate guitar work and dynamic shifts in tempo and mood.

Concluding the album is "Fancy," a surprising yet fitting rendition of Bobby Gentry's classic, imbued with Pirate Hymn's distinctive flair. "Explorer" stands as a testament to the band's creativity and talent, offering a diverse and captivating array of songs that encapsulate the essence of pirate lore. A worthy successor to their debut, "Wild Adventure," the album solidifies Pirate Hymn's place in the pantheon of pirate and folk metal, hinting at even greater adventures on the horizon.
