HMB´S REVIEW
Origin and identity of the band

I’m a veteran fan of Of Mice & Men, and following this Californian band over the years is like watching a plant grow and bloom in rocky soil. From their early steps until now, they’ve accumulated experience and shown versatility, they’re not afraid to evolve. In the new album, Another Miracle, that maturity becomes evident: it’s the quartet’s eleventh studio work, and behind it lies a more intimate and authorial stance. Unlike recording in large studios with external producers, they chose to compose, record, produce, and engineer everything themselves, something that reinforces the album’s personal character.

First impressions: a somber embrace

As soon as the album began with ‘A Waltz’, I am wrapped in a cinematic and electronic atmosphere, almost feverish, as if I were stepping into a shadowy theater. This track opens the album with tension and ambiguity: there is heaviness, but also something hypnotic, ethereal. It’s an introduction that prepares you for what’s coming, something denser, less predictable.

The strength of contrast

One of the most celebrated traits of Another Miracle is the balance between brutality and melody. In tracks like 'Wake Up', the band shows its most vulnerable side: clean vocals, reflective verses, almost shoegaze in their softness, which strongly contrast with the more aggressive moments. On the other hand, songs like 'Troubled Water' dive into heavy riffs, powerful breakdowns, and electronic beats that seem to explode when you least expect.

This duel between the emotional and the forceful isn’t just a stylistic resource: it conveys the feeling of a band that has found itself, that knows how to use chaos to give meaning to what is personal.

Artisanal intimacy

I can tell, through the band’s own statements and the album’s context, that producing everything internally gave them a rare creative freedom. This method allowed them to be authentic, without filters, without exaggerated concessions to appeal commercially. And that reflects in the album: each track carries a very distinct signature. But not everything is entirely perfect. In some songs, I notice that the drums push too far forward in the mix, competing with the vocals or even overshadowing the bass.

Even so, to me, this authorial choice gives the album an organic and honest texture, it feels like a visceral record of the moment the band is in right now.

Emotional moment and core audience

Another Miracle is not only a record for longtime fans but it also speaks deeply to them. The catchy melodies, the choruses that beg for a live crowd to shout along, the breakdowns built for moshing, and the acoustic moments to breathe: all of this comes together in a well-balanced way. The vocals, both clean and screamed, carry honesty, the guitars sound sharp, full of texture, the drums hit hard and confidently, but without slipping into empty virtuosity.

To me, it feels as if the band built a sonic sanctuary where both fury and melancholy fit, where voice and silence hold the same weight.

My final opinion: the full experience

Listening to Another Miracle is, for me, like walking across a bridge between the profound and the explosive, a moment of personal catharsis wrapped in heavy riffs, syncopated melodies, and beats that hit straight in the chest. It’s an album that shows Of Mice & Men with their feet on the ground but their heads in the clouds: mature, confident, and vulnerable at the same time.

It’s not the definitive game changer, nor a watershed moment in metalcore, but it is an important entry in their trajectory, an authentic statement from the band in 2025. If you’re a fan of heavy music with emotion running through its veins, this record deserves multiple spins on your system. For me, it’s another miracle from OM&M and I’m here to applaud it.
